Red Kingdom Staff Predictions: Chiefs Vs. Bills, Divisional Round

January 21, 2022

In one of the most exciting playoff games of the season, the Kansas City Chiefs will be taking on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night at 6:30 pm est in Arrowhead. In their last matchup in Week Five, the Bills beat them 38-20, with the Bills’ offense steamrolling over the Chiefs’ defense.

Now, they want revenge on Sunday night. It’ll be a close game, making it tough to predict what the future hold for this matchup. Here is Red Kingdom’s staff predictions ahead of this Divisional game:

Hunter Stanton

This game will be a great bout till the end as this Chiefs team isn’t like the one we saw back in Week Five. The Bills are without Tre’Davious White, a massive loss to their defense. With the weapons of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, the emergence of Byron Pringle, and the grit of this Chiefs’ defense, I have the Chiefs winning close.

This week’s matchup pits the two best teams in the AFC against one another. I expect the Chiefs to score more than any team has against Buffalo this season. The offense will continue clicking like we saw (at a whole new level) last week. With Ingram and Jones in tow, the defense will fare much better than Week Five. Chiefs win with late heroics from Patrick Mahomes.

Chiefs 34 – Bills 30

Nolan Brooks

Buffalo is no doubt the Chiefs equal in the AFC. Kansas City will need to score often and early against a tough Bills defense. Playoff Mahomes will shine again and advance the Chiefs to another AFC title game. This will be the best playoff game so far, no doubt about it.

Chiefs 34 – Bills 31

The biggest game of the year, in my opinion, is Kansas City and Buffalo. The Bills took out their 2020 AFC Championship game frustrations in an embarrassing home loss for the Chiefs. Don’t expect that this time around. The media will tell you about Josh Allen and the chip on his shoulder, but do not underestimate the chip on Mahomes shoulder either. The squad will look to avenge a big loss, and with the energy I witnessed at Arrowhead last weekend, it will happen.

Chiefs 31 – Bills 24

The Chiefs come into Sunday night with a gigantic chip on their shoulder against the Buffalo Bills. Nearly everyone in the national media is picking the Bills to win. Most say that Josh Allen is now a better quarterback than Patrick Mahomes. We have all seen how Mahomes and the Chiefs respond when people doubt them. I expect the Chiefs to bring out playbooks we have never seen before on both sides of the ball. They will not have the flukes they had the first game, and this will be an easy Chiefs win.

Chiefs 38 – Bills 27

Joel Prestil

The last time we saw these two teams meet, Buffalo rolled past the Chiefs’ 38 to 20. However, don’t expect the same result this time around, as Kansas City is a much different team than we saw back in Week Five. Glancing back at the first matchup this season, the Chiefs had yet to hit their groove defensively and were without several key starters. We did not see Chris Jones or Charvarius Ward suit up, Daniel Sorensen played 100% of the snap count, with Juan Thornhill seeing less than half, and the Chiefs had yet to trade for their defensive savior Melvin Ingram.

With the defense much improved and the offense playing well, along with the emergence of Jerick McKinnon last week, I see Kansas City seizing control of this game and clinching their fourth straight AFC title game appearance.

Chiefs 34 – Bills 24
